His contribution to my studies has been his efforts towards reaching the National Spaniards. I would describe him as an American guy with a Spaniards heart. He offers a clear exhortation for guy’s like myself to understand the culture and church history. This interview helps. Steve will help anyone seeking church planting / mission work in Spain. Intro: While I want to keep the content good, I cannot help but to share some of the more humorous and random discussions. Therefore, I will sprinkle the Spain Series with what I call “Rough Cut Randomâ€? For you supper achievers, and Type Personalities, relax these may waste some time. Don’t worry I will continue to post theological and educational interviews in relation to Missiology in days and weeks to come!

Audio Recording: If you know Spanish, you will hear just how bad mine is! This conversation was caught on tape one evening @ a Catholic Monastery nestled away in the mountains of Barcelona. Miguel and I are sitting down after a day of prayer and contemplation about church planting. Miguel is known to be a fun person to be around, as you will see. Enjoy the short comic relief.

A native of England who spent his formative years in the United States, Dr. Pocock always has subscribed to an intercultural approach to the gospel. Before joining the Seminary’s World Missions faculty in 1987, he pastored a culturally diverse church in Chicago. He also ministered for 16 years with The Evangelical Alliance Mission, first in Venezuela and later as mobilization director in Wheaton, Illinois. He continues to travel extensively in order to participate in missions ministries and conferences. Over the past several years Dr. Pocock has researched and written on the development of multicultural churches in America (2002) and the impact of globalization on missions (2005). He currently is researching human migration in Scripture and the implications for ministry worldwide. Dr. Pocock has been a visiting professor at Christian colleges and seminaries around the world.

Location: Dallas, Texas

Interview Description: This interview as many others in this series was done with out any editing, it’s “Go with what you got style.? You will enjoy Dr. Pocock’s practical and theological approach to missions. His view of missiology has differentiated himself from the typical strategy of missions in Spain, in which I find to be both unique and exciting. I have had the privilege spend time with him outside of the classroom and found him to be caring, calculated, and concerned for what God is doing with global migration through out major cities in the world. He has done a great deal of work in this effort to educate others. He has published a number of books, The Changing Face of World Missions , The Centrality of Christ in Contemporary Missions (EMS vol. 12) , Cultural Change and Your Church , "Personnel for Our Generation." in Reaching Our Generation
